The verdict
The third-generation Apex Pro TKL uses SteelSeries’ OmniPoint 3.0 Hall-effect switches, with actuation adjustable from 0.1 to 4.0 mm, rapid trigger, a “Rapid Tap” SOCD mode and two actions per key. It keeps the series’ OLED screen and control knob, and adds doubleshot PBT keycaps on an aluminium top plate. PC Gamer, Root-Nation and Pretentious Reviews agree it’s fast and satisfying to type on, and that the per-key tuning in the GG software goes deep.
The criticisms are mostly about value: it launched at $219.99 for a wired board with no USB passthrough and only basic media controls. Reviewers also found the software a bit bloated and the wrist rest uncomfortable, and Pretentious Reviews thought the case sounded hollow next to a Wooting. We couldn’t verify a clean retailer rating yet, so there’s no Player score.
It’s a good fit for FPS players who want rapid trigger with a fuller layout and a few extras, like the screen and knob, and don’t mind paying for them. The wireless version and the full-size Apex Pro Gen 3 are separate products.
